Title: Amends Constitution—Oregon legislators can fire state officials.
What does this mean to me?
Right now, people in Oregon must vote to fire the governor or other state officials during elections. This changes the law to allow elected leaders to decide whether a state official must leave their job. Two out of every three people in the state legislature would need to agree.
People for this say:
We should be able to fire state officials who break the law or don’t do their job. We need to remove people who can’t be trusted.
People against this say:
We should wait until an election and let voters decide if someone should keep their job.
