Pacific Green, Progressive
City where I live: Portland
Skills: I am a Naturopathic Doctor serving as a Primary Care Physician in Oregon. I focus on behavioral health and complex chronic illness; more than half of my patients or more are on OHP/Medicaid. I have prior experience in technical advisory committees for Episcopal Health Charities.
3 things I will do if I win:
1. Strengthen the Democratic process in Oregon. 1) Be fair and objective when setting the voting district maps. The results of the 2020 census will be used to draw new voting districts in the US. If the Legislature cannot agree over changes for the new boundaries, the duty falls to the Secretary of State.
2. Make economic decisions to shift wealth from the financiers to the producers. It is those doing the work who make our common well-being possible. The Secretary of State serves on the “State Land Board”. The role of the Board should be to manage public lands to fund services long-term.
3. Focus on the needs of small businesses, the pillars of a healthy economy. The Secretary of State registers the documents that create corporations, large and small. Starting or running a small business involves a lot of paperwork. As a proactive Secretary of State I will promote cooperation.
