Title: Amends Constitution: Eliminates mandatory retirement age for state judges
How much would it cost? $0
People for this say:
The Constitution says that some judges have to retire when they turn 75. No other elected officials have to retire when they turn 75. This is discriminatory. If a judge is doing a bad job at any age, the Oregon Commission on Judicial Fitness and Disability can address that. Some judges might have to retire even though they are doing a good job. People live longer now. Experience helps judges do a good job.
